Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell is an American TV personality who is a chef, and a former instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host sporting spiky blonde wigs and a pumped-up appearance, shares tips on how to prepare restaurant-style meals at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell was employed at New York at top restaurants as well as studied Italian cuisine traditions and geography. She also competed as Iron Chef America on Food Network. While growing up in New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for managing restaurants when she received the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. I was awed by every minute that I was a student at The Culinary Institute of America she says. It was hard to study, do or work enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany and La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. While in Italy, she developed a profound appreciation and understanding of Italian cuisine and its culture. This is a huge influence on the way that Burrell prepares her food. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board members, which strives to improve living conditions for children facing challenges. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of the dangers of childhood diabetes. She travels frequently around the country in her role as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her work and passion for cooking. Anne always felt fortunate that she could share the passion of her life, cooking with others.
